Cherokee scrubs for women: which line to buy

Cherokee scrubs for women explained: Workwear Originals, Workwear Revolution and Infinity compared on fabric, stretch, fit, pockets, inseams and sizes, and which pieces to buy.

Cherokee is the scrub brand almost every hospital has seen, and that is exactly the problem when you go to buy it. “Cherokee” is not one product. It is several lines with different fabrics, different cuts and very different prices, and a set from one line can fit nothing like a set from another.

The short answer: for most people, start with the Workwear Revolution line: the WW620 V-neck top and a Revolution pant in your inseam. If you are on a tight budget or your unit wants a specific color in bulk, the Workwear Originals poly-cotton pieces cost less. If you lift, squat and reach all shift, the Infinity jogger is the one with real stretch. Whatever you choose, note the style number, not just the brand, so your second set fits like your first.

How we chose: Cherokee’s own product and collection pages for fabric, fit, pockets, inseams and sizes, and the amazon.com listings for buyer rating volume. Every pick below has thousands of ratings at 4.3 stars or higher. We have not worn or wash-tested these ourselves.

The three Cherokee lines at a glance

Cherokee sells more than three lines, but these are the ones you will run into most when you shop for women’s scrubs on Amazon. The details below come from Cherokee’s own pages.

The pattern is simple. Originals is the cheap, crisp workhorse. Revolution is the softer, slightly stretchy middle. Infinity is the athletic line and costs roughly twice what Originals does.

Workwear Revolution: the line most people should start with

Revolution is Cherokee’s polyester, rayon and spandex twill line. On the collection page Cherokee calls it two-way stretch and lists women’s sizes from XXS to 6XL. On the WW620 top’s own page the label reads 360 degree stretch. Either way, 2% spandex is a small amount, so think of it as soft with a little give, not as a yoga pant.

The WW620 V-neck top

The WW620 is the three-pocket V-neck that Cherokee marks as a best seller. Cherokee lists 78% polyester, 20% rayon and 2% spandex, a relaxed fit, a 27 inch center back length, two front patch pockets plus an extra pocket on the right, and sizes from XXS to 6XL. The rayon is what makes it feel softer and drape more than a poly-cotton top. It is the safe first buy: if it fits you, the rest of the Revolution line likely will too.

Best for

Anyone who wants a softer, stretchier Cherokee top that still comes in the full run of unit colors.

Worth knowing

Only 2% spandex, so it moves less than an athletic scrub. Size runs to 6XL, but not every color comes in every size.

The WW120 flare pant

To match it, the WW120 is Cherokee’s Revolution drawstring flare pant. Cherokee lists the same 78/20/2 twill, a mid rise, a flat front with back elastic and a drawstring, and five pockets: two front patch pockets, two cargo patch pockets and one back pocket, with a badge loop on the right cargo pocket. The inseams are petite 28.5 inches, regular 31 and tall 34. Search Amazon for “Cherokee WW120” and pick your inseam and color, checking the rating on that listing.

If you would rather buy a top and pant together, Cherokee also sells Revolution sets on Amazon in petite, regular and tall.

Workwear Originals: cheap, crisp and made for color codes

Originals is the line Cherokee built its name on. Cherokee describes it as a soft polyester-cotton blend with soil release that resists fading and shrinking, cut in a relaxed fit, in sizes from XXS to 5XL. The pieces we checked are 65% polyester, 35% cotton poplin, and Cherokee notes that white uses a different 55% cotton, 45% polyester blend.

This is the line to buy when your unit assigns a color and you need four or five sets in it, or when you are a student buying your first scrubs. The trade off is the fabric: poplin with no listed stretch feels crisper and wrinkles more than the Revolution twill.

The 4101 flare leg pant

The 4101 is the classic Originals pant. Cherokee lists a natural rise, a flare leg with side vents at the hem, a flat front with back elastic and a drawstring, two front pockets and one back pocket. Inseams are petite 28.5 inches, regular 31 and tall 34. Two catches: three pockets is not many if you carry shears, tape, a phone and flushes, and Cherokee lists sizes only to 3XL on this style.

Worth knowing

Only three pockets and no stretch in the fabric, and Cherokee lists sizes to 3XL only on this style.

The WW645 knit panel top

The WW645 is the Originals top that fixes the biggest complaint about poplin. Cherokee lists the same 65/35 poplin body with soil release, but adds stretch knit curved back panels and a rib-knit neckline. You get two front patch pockets, an exterior pocket, a pen slot and a hidden instrument loop, with a 27 inch back length and sizes from XXS to 5XL. The knit panels give you room to reach across a bed even though the body does not stretch.

Worth knowing

The poplin body does not stretch; only the knit back panels do. Expect it to feel crisper and wrinkle more than the Revolution top.

Infinity: the athletic line with real stretch

Infinity is where Cherokee competes with the newer performance brands. On the CK110A jogger, Cherokee lists 95% polyester and 5% spandex stretch poplin, a 360 degree stretch label, and odor-fighting fabric technology powered by PROTX2. That is more than twice the spandex of the Revolution line.

The jogger itself has a mid rise, a soft rib-knit elastic waistband and five pockets: two angled zippered front pockets, a right cargo pocket with reflective tape and two back patch pockets. Inseams run petite 26 inches, regular 28.5 and tall 31.5. Those are shorter than the flare pants because a jogger is meant to sit at the ankle, which keeps hems off a wet floor.

The things to know before you buy: Cherokee calls the fit junior contoured, so it is closer than the Workwear lines, and it costs about twice as much as an Originals pant. If you are between sizes, check the size chart and consider sizing up.

Worth knowing

Cherokee calls the cut junior contoured, so it runs closer than the Workwear lines. It also costs about twice as much as an Originals pant.

Which Cherokee line suits your shift?

  • ICU or ED, lots of turning and lifting: Infinity jogger, with a WW620 or WW645 top. The pant is where you need the most give.
  • Med-surg or tele, miles of walking: Revolution top and WW120 pant. Five pant pockets and a softer fabric carry a long day well.
  • Strict unit color code, several sets needed: Workwear Originals. It is the cheapest way to fill a week in the same color.
  • Petite or tall: All three lines offer petite and tall inseams on the pants above. Petite inseams start at 28.5 inches on the flares and 26 inches on the jogger.
  • Plus sizes: Revolution goes to 6XL. The 4101 pant stops at 3XL, so look at the WW120 instead.
  • Students: Originals, then upgrade the pieces you wear most once you know your fit. Our cheap scrubs guide covers other budget sets.

Sizing and fit tips

Fit labels matter more than the size number with Cherokee. Relaxed pieces in Originals and Revolution are cut with room through the body. Junior contoured pieces in Infinity are shaped closer. If you order your usual size in both lines, they will not fit the same.

Two habits save money. First, buy one top and one pant, wear and wash them a few times, then stock up. Second, write down the style number (WW620, 4101, CK110A) from the tag, because colors and listings change, but the style number is what tells you the cut.

Washing Cherokee scrubs

Cherokee’s product pages list fabric content but no washing directions, so the sewn-in care label is your guide. Under the FTC’s Care Labeling Rule, that label has to say how to wash and dry the garment and warn if a usual method would harm it, so read it before a new set goes through your hottest cycle. Your hospital’s uniform policy comes first. For a full washing routine, see our scrubs guide.

What to skip

  • Treating “Cherokee” as one fit. Originals, Revolution and Infinity are cut differently. Buy by line and style number.
  • Poplin pants for a squat-heavy shift. If you are on the floor emptying drains all day, the Infinity jogger moves with you; a poly-cotton pant does not.
  • A full week of sets before the first wash. See how the fabric and fit hold up first.
  • Listings with no style number. You want to know which line you are buying.

Are Cherokee scrubs good quality?

For the money, yes, on what we can check. The fabric content is listed on every piece, the size runs are long, petite and tall inseams are standard on the pants, and the picks here have tens of thousands of buyer ratings between them. They are not luxury scrubs, and the cheapest Originals pieces feel like it, but they are a sensible base for most wardrobes.

How does Cherokee compare with other brands?

Cherokee wins on color range and size range. Grey’s Anatomy is softer and more tailored, and Carhartt is tougher with more pockets: our Cherokee vs Grey’s Anatomy vs Carhartt comparison covers all three. If a yoga waistband matters most, see our Healing Hands scrubs guide. FIGS is not sold on Amazon, so it is not in our guides.

Your unit’s dress code and uniform policy come first, so check them before you buy.
